St Peter's Class
Welcome to an insight into St Peter's class, where we cherish every day to learn and love!
Our class teachers are: Mrs Andrews and Miss Taylor on a Monday.
Our teaching assistant is: Miss Bibi
Class Charity
In our class, we’ve chosen to raise awareness and donated clothes, toys and resources for our charity which is Barnardos.

Anne and Vicky came in from a Barnardos branch and spoke to the children about what we do.
The children enjoyed asking questions and learning about how the charity helps children and young people across our country.

Everyone is welcome - class virtue
At the beginning of the year, we were chosen, as a class, to represent the virtue of forgiveness.
In Autumn, for our Buddhism Multi-faith Day we learnt about prayer. The children created collages of a shrine, temple and lotus flower.
Beyond the classroom
In our class, we’ve enjoyed a wide range of experiences this year to help us develop our love of learning.
In Autumn:
We took part in the launch day for Numbots which is a fantastic website for maths. The children have to complete different games and practise their addition, subtraction and counting skills.
For the day, the children came dressed up as robots, they put so much effort into their costumes. Remember to keep completing levels to get your next certificate!
We were very lucky to have Catherine come in from History to Life. We have been learning about the Great Fire of London and she brought in artefacts to help us understand what happened.
The children were amazed with the artefacts and sketched them and had to guess what they were used for.
We looked at a fire hook, butter churn, a large trough which was used to make bread dough in, candlestick holders and many more.
We also used quills and ink to write about the Great Fire of London and played a game similar to three in a row.
Near to Christmas we had a brilliant time at the Key Stage One disco after school and had a go at limbo and danced with the foam.
We also had a lovely Christmas party day playing lots of dancing games and ate lots of goodies!
During the last week, we had some spare time to build some models, here are a few of them. Superb building everyone.

Engaging with our learning

Across the curriculum, our minds are filled with wonderful knowledge especially with the help of our exciting and fun lessons.
In Autumn:
We explored different mark making skills and sketched teddies.
We love PE and created some fantastic routines in gymnastics and learned different ways of moving, jumping and rolling across the mats. The children were able to hold balances for several seconds, showed so much control and worked well in pairs to join their balances.
In science, we are learning about materials and have done lots of experiments to find out which are most suitable and describe their properties.
We looked at which materials were the most suitable for an umbrella, tested different objects to see which were the most flexible and used torches to test which materials were opaque and which were transparent.
In our DT lessons, we created pouches and decorated them with a Christmas image. They all did so well to learn how to stitch and attach items onto their pouches.
In Spring:
In Geography, we have been learning about a city in Sri Lanka called Kandy. We had to find it using the atlases. The children enjoyed identifying other places around the world too.
