Class Charity

In our class, we’ve chosen to raise awareness and money for 'The National Autistic Society. This charity is important to us because we believe every person should be treated with respect and given support to help with their differences.

It has also taught us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and allowed us to put into practice the virtues of  generosity, friendship  and citizenship.

Please check out the National Autistic Society's website to see what extra fundraising activities you could do at home.

We enjoyed wearing odd socks to raise money for our charity. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Charity and Love - class virtue

At the beginning of the year, we were chosen, as a class, to represent the virtue of Charity and Love

James quote: “I can charity by helping other people or by taking clothes to a charity shop.

Jacobs quote: “I show my family I love them by helping them”.

Through our learning, we understand the importance of how everyone is unique and special. We learn to respect and love one another through our inclusive days (including Anti-Bullying Day, Dyslexia Day and Autism Awareness Day). We have learnt about Charity through our charity fundraising events.

During Black History Month, we learnt that although we all look different and enjoy different things, we are all equal and unique and should treat everyone with respect. We focused on the life of Mary Seacole. We found out that she was treated unfairly due to her skin colour and discussed how this made us feel.

Beyond the classroom

In our class, we’ve enjoyed a wide range of experiences this year to help us develop our love of learning.

We had loved learning and seeing the change from Summer to Autumn. To reflect on how the season has changed we enjoyed our task of going on a walk to collect different autumn objects to create our wonderful autumnal pictures.

We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the festival of Diwali and hearing about this first hand from our wonderful visitor Seema. The children were very enthusiastic and enjoyed seeing all the lovely artefacts such as diva lamps and special clothes. They also enjoyed the retell of the story of Rama and Sita against the evil king Ravana.

We have also enjoyed learning all about Sikhism!

We had lots of fun watching the Production of Snow White near Christmas and the children did a fantastic Nativity production!

Engaging with our learning

Across the curriculum, our minds are filled with wonderful knowledge especially with the help of our exciting and fun lessons.

We have enjoyed learning about different people who help us. We enjoyed talks from both a paramedic and a police officer!

We can't wait for our new topic this half term which is Space!
