St George's Class
Welcome to an insight into St. George's class, where we cherish every day to learn and love!
Our class teacher is: Miss Aziz
Our teaching assistants are: Miss Wood (am)
Class charity
In our class, we’ve chosen to raise awareness and money for Water Aid. This charity is important to us because they provide clean water to millions of people through wells, taps, pumps and toilets. They promote good hygiene and remind us of how incredibly lucky we are to have access to clean water.
How amazing is that!
We can’t wait to plan some fundraising activities to raise money for such an important and helpful cause.

Everyone is welcome - Class virtue

At the beginning of the year, we were chosen, as a class, to represent the virtue of ‘Thankfulness’.
We discussed how we can show we are thankful and what we are grateful for. We made links to our class charity, Water Aid, to highlight how incredibly lucky we are to have access to clean water!
Alfred says: “I can show ‘Love of Learning’ by trying my best in class.”
Evelyn says: “A friend in my class showed ‘Love of Learning’ when they wrote their own book at home and shared it with us all in St. Georges.”
Jane says: “I could show ‘Love of Learning’ at home by doing my homework.”
Beyond the classroom
In our class, we’ve enjoyed a wide range of experiences this year to help us develop our love of learning.
In Autumn, we were transported back to 1666 with a visit from Catherine. She told us lots of wonderful facts about what life was like and how the Great Fire of London spread.
We loved guessing what the artefacts were and then handling the artefacts like fire hook, the butter churn and practising writing with the ink. We were definitely expert writers with the ink!

Engaging with our learning

Across the curriculum, our minds are filled with wonderful knowledge, especially with the help of our exciting and fun lessons.
In Autumn, we have had lots of fun exploring our drawing skills during Art from forming simple marks to sketching our own teddies through observations. We found out about different artists and how they use tone to express themselves!
We have also enjoyed learning about other faiths such as Buddhism and Hinduism during our Multi-faith days.
We have developed our understanding of how Buddhists and Hindus pray at home and why prayer is important to them. We made comparisons to how this is similar or different to Christianity.
We created amazing pieces of art work such as collages of Buddha and painting colourful diva lamps!
We have been busy designing and sewing our own Christmas inspired pouches. We used felt to create our pouches for them to be sold at our Christmas Fair at school.
They looked fantastic!
In our Science topic, we have loved exploring everyday materials and investigating which material is the best for an umbrella.
Ayla was very lucky to be chosen to sit under our materials 'umbrella'. The children definitely enjoyed spotting when the water started leaking.
It's a good thing she came prepared!
