Victorian Day Summer 2021

On Wednesday we spent the day learning what it was like to be a child in the Victorian times. We had fun experiencing a Victorian school room, we wrote on slates with chalk and used a pen and ink. We played with Victorian toys and did some Victorian line drawings of plants. We loved it!!

Using slates Summer 2021

We practised writing our sentences on Victorian slates!

We practised making and writing sentences using finger spaces.

Shape Hunt

We had lots of fun hunting for 2d shapes around our school

Hero day

Today we have had a great day celebrating lots of different heroes! We have done a parade and written about who we dressed as and why.

Our Class Virtue is Justice.
In St. Francis class we have been learning about the virtue justice. We have learnt that justice is thinking about how other people might be feeling and not just ourselves. We learnt that justice is making sure that everyone is happy, and no one is left behind. God teaches us that
treating others with fairness is the rain that helps them to grow. We talked about how we all sometimes need help to grow and we would like others to be fair to us. Here is some of our work

As part of our topic on God's Great Plan we have been learning about the story of creation. We have looked at each of the days and thought about which was our favourite day and why. We have learnt about the 7th day being a speacial day as this is a holy day. We visited the prayer garden in school and looked out at God's creation, We thought about what an amazing world it is and said thank you to God.

In English, we have begun to write our stories about Jack and the Beanstalk.  We have been trying to think about composing sentences using capital letters and full stops. We have tried to included expanded nouns in our stories and sequencing words to start our sentences.

Year 1 had a really good try to write some of their own sentences with a little help.

Year 1
In maths this week we have been learning how to read, write and order numbers up to 10. The children have had lots of fun counting, making numbers using resources and painting towers to match a number.

In Year 2
We have been learning how to count in 2's, 5's, 3's and 10's. The children have enjoyed counting in regular number patterns and making up their own number patterns. Such 3, 5, 7, 9 ...
