Hello and welcome to St. Francis class page
Wow! What a half term it has been! The children continue to work hard and show the love and values that we have as the core of our learning at St. Joseph's.
We have moved onto to narrative writing in our English lessons, using the facts of The Great Fire of London for structure and inspiration. In maths. we have embedded place value and are beginning now to use this foundation to explore addition, subtraction and grouping (multiplication for Year 2).
PE is still first thing on Monday morning but the second session is now last thing on Thursday
. Please refer to the letter from Mr Oldfield, our PE leader, regarding appropraite clothing on each day. Essentially the children arrive and leave in full autumn uniform and leave their kits in school.
This half term the children are learning to throw and catch with increasing accuracy and will be transferring these skills into invasion games.
Your child will have dedicated reading days, but please try to keep your child's reading books in their book bag every day. Reading is a huge focus in KS1 and for Year 1 is our main occupation for this first half term!
Homework is given out on Fridays to be brought back on the following Wednesday. Homework will alternate between Maths and English. Please can you support your child at home and encourage them to discuss their learning.
Please feel free to call in at any time if you need anything!
Mrs Longbottom and Mrs Cullen.
