Thursday's Virtual Sport Day

We hope that you can get involved with our Virtual Sports Day this year. We have picked activities that everyone can access with as little equipment as possible. When you have your scores, send your results in so we can count them with the rest of the class. The sheet is a word document so you can fill it in and send it back to us. If you take any pictures or videos of you doing the events, please send them in. Let's get active!!!

Next week is Health and Wellbeing week! We have lots of fun things planned for the children. In maths on Monday, the children will start to keep a food diary, which they will use on Friday to make a bar chart. In literacy we are looking at the text, 'Handa's Surprise.' The children will be introduced to lots of interesting fruits as the little girl goes for a walk. We hope you all have a fun week and as always would love to see any pictures of you all keeping healthy.
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for keeping going at this very difficult time. I am missing you all very much and hope that you are all staying well. I love seeing pictures of the children and their work, so do keep sending them through! Keep it up! - everyone of you is doing an amazing job in very stressful and uncertain times.
Spellings

This is a great bank of ideas to make spelling fun(!) and memorable. If the weather holds - it could be done in chalk outside. I've also popped in the common exception words for both year groups. This isn't for any week in particular - I just thought that I would put it on as a creative and productive idea!

Hello and welcome to St. Francis class page

Just a little note to say 'Happy Easter'!
I hope that you are all safe and well and that we will meet again befoire too long!

This class page will provide all the resources you will need to enable your child to continue to develop their learning.

As a school we will be providing: one Maths, one English, one SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) or Phonics every day for the children to complete. We would also like children to have an opportunity to complete an RE (religious education) and Topic (geography, history or science) once a week (where possible). As I have explained to the children, activities have been provided for the next two weeks and I am happy for them to complete them when possible and in formats suitable for them.

Children have been provided with resource packs, which include: a workbook, a number square, a phonics list and a list of the common exception words. You may use these resources to support the learning or use your own resources, if you wish.

As teachers are still providing education online, all teaching staff will be available to contact via email between the hours of 8.30am and 4pm. Staff will be more than happy to respond to any questions or concerns. The class teacher’s email is: n.longbottom@stjosephspudsey.org

We thank you for your continued support this unprecedented time.

UPDATE MARCH 21st - MATHS WORK!!!!!
This is a great website: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/

Maths Year 1 for week beginning 23.3.20

The topic this week is 2D shapes. For the mastery activity cards on Tuesday and Thursday, only go as far as your child is able. On Friday, the children can finish the topic by producing a picture of their choice using 2D shapes. Please use whatever medium you want - coloured pencils, paint, cutting out different pieces of card etc. The Artist Kandinsky is a good illustration of how 2D shapes have been used in art.

There is also a 3D word mat included to support learning.
